Soho's 12 Bar Club confirmed to be closing in January
Legendary London rock den the 12 Bar Club is confirmed to be closing this coming January. Its closure was initially announced earlier this year, but it was given a brief stay of execution after a petition to save it picked up momentum (and 17,000-ish signatures).
The rock'n'roll/punk/metal venue is currently located on Denmark Street in Soho, and this news follows swiftly after another Soho venue - Madame Jojo's - was scheduled for demolition.
Writing on Facebook, the venue said:
"We are very sad to announce that The 12 Bar Club has been given notice to vacate Denmark Street by the middle of January.
The 12 Bar Club will live on
We will announce details of our new location shortly"
While it's encouraging to know that the venue will continue elsewhere, it's bad news once again for Soho, as developers ceaselessly steamroller through the historic cultural hotspot.
