Soccer Mommy unfurls tender new cut "Still Clean"
Fast-rising Nashville artist Soccer Mommy has rolled out "Still Clean", another sublime taste of forthcoming debut record Clean.
"'Still Clean' discusses the hopelessness of waiting for someone who's abandoned you," explains Soccer Mommy's Sophie Allison. "It uses this idea of being 'clean' to explain the feeling of being stuck waiting for someone, hoping that they haven’t moved on from you. When you are stuck in this place of waiting you kind of put your world - and you memory of them - on pause. But as the song shows, sometimes people keep moving while you're standing still, and sometimes you're the only one who's left clean."
The new number from the 20-year-old singer/songwriter joins up with "Cool" and "Your Dog" in previewing the LP.
We can't wait for Clean - Soccer Mommy is a firm fave with us. We picked her out as One To Watch last summer, went behind the scenes for a Polaroid photoshoot during her first UK tour, and recently spoke to her about the pivotal songs in her life so far, and earlier this month she headlined the sold-out final night of our new music festival, The Five Day Forecast, with Snail Mail and Honey Harper also on the bill.
Soccer Mommy will be back in the UK soon enough though, with a brief headline tour scheduled for March. Find out more.
