Soccer Mommy and SASAMI cover The Cars and System Of A Down for final singles series instalment
Soccer Mommy has teamed up with SASAMI to complete her Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series with covers of The Cars and System Of A Down.
The final releases of Soccer Mommy's Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series sees SASAMI cover System Of A Down's "Toxicity", and Soccer Mommy cover The Cars' "Drive".
Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, says of her cover, "I’m really glad to get to release this cover of "Drive". It’s a song I’ve loved for a long time that I started covering pretty recently. It was nice to get to record one last thing in the studio before everything shut down."
Soccer Mommy's singles series was launched in May with Jay Som. Soccer Mommy covered Jay Som's "I Think You’re Alright", while Jay Som covered Soccer Mommy's "lucy". Last month, Soccer Mommy shared the second instalment of the series, which saw Beabadoobee share a demo of "If You Want To", and Allison released a demo of "night swimming". The third releases consisted of Allison covering MGMT's "Indie Rokkers", and Gentle Dom, aka Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT, remixed Soccer Mommy's "circle the drain".
All proceeds made from the Bandcamp sales were originally being donated to Oxfam’s COVID-19 relief fund, but now proceeds will be split between Oxfam and National Bail Out. According to a press release, an anonymous donor for Oxfam will match every dollar raised from the singles series up to $5,000.
