Sky Larkin to release new single as a newspaper
How do you get music fans to buy physical releases in this day and age of digital streaming? The likes of Alcopop! Records have tried releasing compilations on mountain bikes, and now Sky Larkin are set to bring out their next single as a newspaper.
The band’s recent album, Motto was released in September via Wichita Recordings, following on from 2010′s Kaleide. The Yorkshire indie rockers will release “Newsworthy” on 9 December, with the CDs coming inside a specially-curated newspaper.
“The scale of the disembodied digital world can numb us into passive awe, but it doesn’t have to be like that,” said singer Katie Harkin. “Keep it newsworthy; it helps. While the avenues for communication continue to multiply, it’s the duty of the craftsman not the tools to keep ourselves actively engaged.”
