Skepta, Kano, Bon Iver, Solange, Anohni, and more up for BRIT Awards
This year's BRIT Award nominations are in, with Skepta leading the way on three - British Male Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act, and British Album of the Year.
Little Mix are also on three - they're nominated for British Group, British Single, and British Artist Video Of The Year. David Bowie and Leonard Cohen receive posthumous nominations.
Performers at this year's ceremony include The 1975, Little Mix, and Emile Sandé.
Last year the BRITs confirmed that there'd be major changes for the 2017 awards following criticism and threads of a boycott in the wake of the #BritsSoWhite controversy - there's definitely been a change this year, with BAME artists nominated in almost every category. Last year there were no BAME artists outside of the international categories.
"The 2017 BRIT nominations reflect a diverse and rich year in music both in the UK and internationally," says BRITs chairman Jason Iley. "Huge artists from the past, present, and future are represented. From pop, to indie, to grime, to rock; it’s a brilliant and varied roll call of talent - a fantastic showcase for what’s happening in music right now.”
The trophies for the 2017 BRIT Awards are designed by late architect Zaha Hadid. Check 'em out.
