Sigur Rós to announce new Route One project tonight
Sigur Rós are set to reveal a new project tonight titled Route One - is it an album? Is it a new film?
The Icelandic trio last released an album - Kveikur - in 2013. They've released two video albums in their history as well - Heima and the Valtari Film Experiment.
The band are currently streaming a loop of the trailer live on YouTube - the big reveal takes place at 9pm (GMT). The teaser simply states "#sigurrosrouteone beings 21.00 GMT", with the blurb also giving the project's Icelandic name: Þjóðvegur eitt. It's very vague, with the pioneering post rockers giving little away, with just experimental ambient noises and distorted shots of the (probably) Icelandic landscape.
Route 1 is a ring road in Iceland that loops around the entire country.
They've also been posting pics to Instagram, and a new ad has sprung up on Soundcloud.
Earlier this month footage emerged online of Sigur Rós performing a new track called "Óveður" at Primavera. The band are currently roadtesting new material for their upcoming album, with their European shows being presented "in the spirit of adventure."
