Sigur Rós to appear in and soundtrack an episode of 'The Simpsons'
Icelandic post-rock royalty, Sigur Rós have composed music for an upcoming episode of The Simpsons, an episode they are also set to star in.
The band will soundtrack the 19 May edition of the long-running cartoon, with the episode in question set in the band’s home country. The story is expected to focus on one of the show’s characters, Carl Carlson, who was revealed to be of Icelandic heritage during Season 14.
The group have revealed a bit of a summary of what to expect: “After Carl snags the ticket and flees to his home country of Iceland, the guys head there in hot pursuit. The band’s music scores Homer’s visit to Iceland, marking an unprecedented musical collaboration between the show and a band.”
They’ve also stated that they have ”written and performed more original music for the Simpsons than any other outside band in the show’s history” – including a take on Danny Elfman’s famous theme music for the show.
