Sigur Rós' Jónsi announces second Dark Morph album with lead track "Dark Wave"
Jónsi of Sigur Ros has reunited with Carl Michael von Hausswolff for new album Dark Morph II, which arrives with the lead track "Dark Wave".
"Dark Wave" is the shortest piece on Dark Morph II, and is the first collaboration between Jónsi and von Hausswolff since last year's debut LP Dark Morph.
The new track features recordings of whales and shrimp in the Pacific Ocean.
The duo first started working together when they met aboard research vessel Dardanella at Vanua Vatu Reef in Fiji in 2018. Dark Morph II is made up of recordings captured in Fiji and Tonga, and was produced and mixed in GeeJam Studios in Jamaica in January 2019.
Dark Morph II is centred around Earth's oceans. The duo say, "The exploitation of the oceans, in conjunction with the heavy pollution (from plastic waste to nuclear radio-activity) has to stop, and be replaced by collaborative manners co-operating with all life on or globe."
Jónsi and von Hausswolff's new album only features three tracks including "Dark Wave" - "Dive In", which runs just shy of 20 minutes, and eight-minute track "Humpback Whale Choir".
