Sigur Rós and Sky Ferreira working on new film directed by Jonas Åkerlund
Sigur Rós are providing the soundtrack to Lords Of Chaos, a new film starring Sky Ferreira and directed by Madonna collaborator Jonas Åkerlund.
Åkerlund has directed a lot of music videos, but is perhaps best known for his award-winning work with Madonna. In recent years he's directed clips for Frank Ocean, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Kesha, and Taylor Swift... and Sigur Rós (he worked on their grisly "Óveður" clip).
Now he's focusing on a feature-length adaptation of 1998 book Lords Of Chaos (written by Didrik Søderlind and alleged far-right sympathiser Michael Moynihan), which is apparently "an account of the early Norwegian black metal scene, with a focus on the string of church burnings and murders that occurred in the country around 1993." The book (and probably the film) focus partly on black metal group Mayhem, whose guitarist Euronymous was murdered by neo-Nazi Varg Vikernes (Burzum) in 1993.
