Sharon Van Etten and Julien Baker to cover Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins for new 7" single
Sharon Van Etten and Julien Baker have covered tracks by Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins for a new 7" single that will accompany a future issue of Image Comics' What’s the Furthest Place From Here series.
The future issue of What's the Furthest Place From Here with the exclusive 7" single is set for release in September, and will see Van Etten cover Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" while Baker covers Smashing Pumpkins' "1979".
What's the Furthest Place From Here is a comic book series written by Matthew Rosenberg and illustrated by Tyler Boss, and is a "post-apocalyptic coming-of-age series".
Each issue so far has been teamed with an exclusive vinyl, featuring contributions from Chubby and the Gang, Joyce Manor and more.
Dork reports that Rosenberg said of the upcoming issue with Van Etten and Baker's covers, "Having Julien Baker and Sharon Van Etten record songs is really beyond anything we could have hoped for. Tyler and I regularly listen to both of their work while making this book, so having them provide the actual soundtrack for the issue has been really surreal in the best possible way."
