It’s with great sadness that we report the death of Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co. singer-songwriter Jason Molina.
The Secretly Canadian-signed musician passed away on Saturday (16 March) from organ failure due to alcoholism, the Chunklet confirms.
Molina’s addiction to alcohol had been long known, with his family and friends making a public plea for help funding his medical needs after it was announced that he didn’t have health care insurance.
Molina had largely been inactive musically since 2009 and was last known to be living on a farm in West Virginia, according to Pitchfork.
Our thoughts are with Molina’s family and friends at this time.
