Sampha shares Beautiful Boy movie track "Treasure"
Sampha returns with new track "Treasure", featured on the soundtrack for new movie Beautiful Boy.
"Treasure" is the first solo track from Mercury Award-winning Sampha since his 2017 debut album Process.
Sampha's new track features on the credits of new movie Beautiful Boy, which is based on the memoirs from father and son David and Nic Sheff.
Speaking about his new offering, Sampha explains, "I wrote "Treasure" after seeing the film for the first time. Nic and David's story, and the dynamic between them, really resonated with me on an emotional level and "Treasure" is my response, filtered through the lens of my own experiences. I feel honoured to be asked to contribute something to a film as authentic and important as this.”
The Beautiful Boy soundtrack also features contributions from Mogwai, Massive Attack, Nirvana, David Bowie, John Lennon, Zola Jesus, Aphex Twin, and more.
Sampha hasn't been completely quiet, having provided guest vocals on multiple tracks from Everything Is Recorded's Mercury-nominated album Everything Is Recorded by Richard Russell.
