Sam Smith delays new album and says they want to rename it
Sam Smith has postponed the original release date for their new album To Die For, and has revealed they plan to rename it.
To Die For was originally due for release on 1 May, and would've been the first album since Smith's 2017 LP The Thrill of it All.
Smith has today shared a statement explaining their decision to postpone the original release date. They write, "I have done a lot of thinking over the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn't feel right, so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions."
They add, "I will be renaming my album and pushing back the release date - both of which are to be confirmed at this time. Don't worry though, there will be an album this year, I promise! But until then I am still going to bring out some new music over the next few months, which I'm incredibly excited about."
