Sam Fender reads heartfelt letter addressed to his 10-year-old self
Sam Fender gave a heartfelt reading of a letter he wrote to his 10-year-old self during an appearance on BBC Radio 1 yesterday (22 December).
During yesterday's (22 December) Scott Mills show on BBC Radio 1, Sam Fender read a letter addressed to his 10-year-old self, giving fans a glimpse of what his life was like growing up.
In his letter, Fender told his younger self not to worry about breaking things because his dad is a "jack of all trades, he can fix anything", and gave his younger self a heads up about having two step-parents and to not take notice of any bullies in school.
Fender added, "The bullies who catch you on the stairs are gonna want your autograph 10 years later. Don’t give it to them. Don’t feel ashamed for being sensitive and empathetic – that trait is going to be the foundation of your future career. You’re not ugly, you’re not stupid, so stop telling yourself that."
In his letter Fender urged his younger self to pick up a guitar that his 10-year-old self has already had for a year, "You should pick it up and give it a go, trust us", and added that it would "definitely help you get a girlfriend".
The heartfelt letter concluded by Fender telling his younger self, "Stop worrying kid, you've got this."
