Ryan Adams has finally covered Bryan Adams' "Summer Of '69"
Ryan Adams covered Bryan Adams’ 1985 stadium-rock hit "Summer of ’69" recently at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
The name similarity used to mean that Adams received numerous request for the track during live sets, which kinda pissed him off. The performance is a not-so-subtle nod to Adams' unhappy response to a heckler, asking him to play the song, 13 years prior at the same venue (Adams' point blank refused to continue until security had removed the heckler; he later told SPIN that the incident sparked a string of therapy sessions). Now that he's seemingly over the whole scenario, Adams' acoustic rendition has been welcomed with open arms.
