Roy Harper announces first studio album in 13 years
Lauded songwriter, Roy Harper is set to drop his first studio album in 13 years, with Man And Myth coming through Bella Union on 23 September.
Roy Harper is a hard one to pigeon hole. He appeared during the folk boom of the 60s and his career has spanned the time. He was semi-retired in rural Ireland when he was inspired to begin writing again by singer Jonathan Wilson, who assembled a tribute album for the Manchester-born folk rocker. Harper flew out to Wilson’s Laurel Canyon studio to work on an album and the result is Man And Myth.
According to Clash, Roy Harper recently opened up about his renewed interest in song writing. “I was inspired to write again around 2009, by many of the younger generation finding me and asking, who are you? But it’s also been those of my own generation, who said they’d never bothered to listen to me until now, but in the process of looking for something else they might like, they’d found me, and some said they now knew why they’d kept hearing my name.”
Man And Myth is set to be released on 23 September. Find more details over at the Bella website.
