As it launches its new Paris outlet today, Rough Trade have announced it will be opening a flagship US store in New York later this year. According to Music Week, the Rough Trade NYC will open in Williamsburg in the Autumn and will be partnering with The Bowery Presents to set up a live performance area for instores and late night shows.
“At long last, we can finally confirm the next bold step in our evolution,” said Rough Trade’s co-owner, Stephen Godfroy while The Bowery Presents’ John Moore has added: “We’re extremely excited at the prospect of handing over the ‘blank canvas’, that is a Rough Trade store, to the music lovers of New York, allowing them make it their own culture agora, just as the people of London have so successfully achieved, with downturn-defying results.”
In addition to the physical store, which is set to be bigger than there current home in Brick Lane, there will be an online site offering MP3s, vinyls and CDs.
