Reggae luminary Protoje drops new album Royalty Free
Over the last few years, Protoje claimed his spot as one of the greatest reggae artistes of this generation. His unique take on the deep rooted Caribbean genre uses classic rhythms and adds new and fresh beats on every track.
He’s been making waves across the world so if you haven’t heard him collabing with the likes of Chronixx and Ky-Mani Marley or from the radio in your GTA V vehicles, he’s definitely worth a listen.
On his earthstrong, the pioneer of the Reggae Revival dropped a new album ‘Royalty Free’, available for free download on his website, which includes a mix of innovative reggae sounds. Tracks like ‘Can’t Feel No Way’ and ‘Glad You’re Home’ deliver a holy matrimony between trap and reggae music. The flow switches in the laid back ‘Sandra Foster’, a love song that pays tribute to the 90s Jamaican beauty queen. ‘Used to be my Life’ is the closest to traditional reggae, with a style that matches the inotations of established artistes such as Tarrus Riley. This is truly a diverse and addictive piece of work.
