Ratatat stream new album Magnifique on Best Fit
Ratatat, the rock-ish mavericks with a sound that still stumps music hacks to this day, are premiering new record Magnifique with Best Fit.
Mike Stroud and Evan Mast's new album arrives in our ears far later than we'd've liked, some half a decade after LP4 in 2010, but it's been more than worth the wait. Lead cuts "Intro", "Cream On Chrome", "Abrasive" and "Nightclub Amnesia" have proved that.
Magnifique is a mini-jukebox of genre flits and radio static - there's a similarity to Queens Of The Stone Age's concept on Songs For The Deaf - which offers them the chance to dive into fresh worlds with reckless abandon. The result is a multi-faceted exploration of their own sound and the music they've surrounded themselves with - there's even a cover of Springwater's "I Will Return" at the end.
Ratatat will release Magnifique on 17 July via Because Music (XL in the US).
