Rae Morris shares cover of "Stay Another Day" by East 17
On-the-rise superstar Rae Morris has unleashed a cover of infamously un-festive Christmas classic "Stay Another Day" by East 17. She also mixes in a tricksy snippet of "Silent Night".
Adorned with reverb, luscious harmonies and finger-snap lilts, is wonderfully true to the original, and yet wholly different. There's arguably more heart in Morris' take, and instead of a wet-fish slap of soppiness, there's genuine yearning. Good job she didn't do the original or we might be bawling over roast tatties every 25 December.
Morris will drop her debut LP Unguarded on 26 January via Atlantic. She will support the release with a lengthy tour in February, including a stop at LDN's Brixton Electric on 12 Feb.
