Quentin Tarantino to talk music on BBC Radio 6 Music
This May sees the return of The First Time on BBC 6 Music, a programme which – as you might have guessed – discusses the artists famous musicians and other music lovers first fell in love with. The first episode airs Sunday 5 May, with acclaimed film director Quentin Tarantino making a guest appearance.
“The First Time normally focuses on musicians but we made an exception for Tarantino as his use of music in his movies is so genuinely iconic,” said presenter Matt Everitt. “All his films are master classes in marrying image to sound in visceral, emotional and original ways. The most memorable scenes from his movies are synonymous with specific songs – some of which have become part of popular culture.”
The programme will see Tarantino discuss his penchant for Elvis Presley and the Partridge Family, among others. It airs midday-1pm.
Update: Here’s a clip of the director discussing his love of the music from Jungle Book.
