Pusha T and A Tribe Called Quest to support Kanye West on Yeezus tour
Legendary alt-hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest have been announced as special guests on Kanye West’s Yeezus tour, joining Pusha T and Kendrick Lamar.
Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and co. will open shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on 20 November, and at Madison Square Garden on 24 November. Pusha T, whose new solo album My Name Is My Name was produced in part by Kanye, will appear at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Kendrick is down to perform on the remaining 26 dates, from late October to early December.
Yeezy spoke recently about his LAX altercation with Danny Ramos, a photographer on whose behalf a lawsuit was filed against the rapper by a Los Angeles attorney. This time around, he spoke cordially with the assembled paparazzi, telling them that Ramos had “antagonised” him on “the day found out that grandfather was not going to make it.”
“You guys help me influence, you help with the family, you help Kim’s power and everything,” he said, referring to his partner and their newborn child, North. “I’m not trying to be at you guys in any negative way, and I don’t want you being negative to me. I would prefer that we just have a decent relationship.”
Kanye may be building bridges, but elsewhere, Drake is burning them. The Toronto rapper is reportedly being sued by his now ex-support act Future, who was unceremoniously removed from his upcoming tour for speaking ill of new album Nothing Was The Same.
UPDATE: As Consequence of Sound point out, Q-Tip has announced via Twitter that these support shows will be A Tribe Called Quest’s last ever.
