Public Enemy fire Flavor Flav following clash over Bernie Sanders rally
Public Enemy's Flavor Flav has been kicked out of the group after they disputed over a performance at a Bernie Sanders rally.
Flavor Flav was a founding member of Public Enemy, and spent 37 years in the group.
In a statement to Pitchfork, Public Enemy wrote, "Public Enemy and Public Enemy Radio will be moving forward without Flavor Flav. We thank him for his years of service and wish him well."
Prior to Public Enemy Radio's performance at Bernie Sanders' LA rally yesterday (1 March), Flavor Flav sent a cease and desist letter to Sanders' team.
Following Flavor Flav's decision to make their dispute a legal problem, Chuck D wrote on Twitter, "It’s not about BERNIE with Flav... he don’t know the difference between Barry Sanders or Bernie Sanders he don’t know either."
... last final note the last final note was my last straw was long ago. It’s not about BERNIE with Flav... he don’t know the difference between BarrySanders or BernieSanders he don’t know either. In another tweet, Chuck D added, "If there was a $bag, Flav would’ve been there front & center. He will NOT do free benefit shows. Sued me in court the 1st time I let him back in. His ambulance lawyer sued me again on Friday & so now he stays home & better find REHAB."
Spoke @BernieSanders rally with @EnemyRadio. If there was a $bag, Flav would’ve been there front & center. He will NOT do free benefit shows. Sued me in court the 1st time I let him back in. His ambulance lawyer sued me again on Friday & so now he stays home & better find REHAB

Chuck D said in a statement, "Flavor chooses to dance for his money and not do benevolent work like this. He has a year to get his act together and get himself straight or he’s out."
Pitchfork notes that Public Enemy and Public Enemy Radio have different lineups. Flavor Flav is not a member of Public Enemy Radio, which is the group that performed at the Sanders rally yesterday (1 March).
