Priya Ragu previews debut mixtape with new cut "Lockdown"
Priya Ragu has delivered new single "Lockdown" as a final preview of her debut mixtape damnshestamil before it drops in full tomorrow (3 September).
"Lockdown" follows July's "Kamali", and is accompanied by a video that sees Priya Ragu reunite with "Chicken Lemon Rice" director Dumas Haddad.
Priya Ragu says of the new release, ""Lockdown" was written earlier this year during a time where I felt particularly isolated from the people I love. It’s about dealing with being alone in this situation and wanting to feel the energy of another persons presence, not for love but for friendship, guidance and getting down."
Ragu's debut mixtape damnshestamil will also include earlier outings "Forgot About", "Chicken Lemon Rice" and last year's "Good Love 2.0".
The mixtape was recorded with her producer/brother JaphnaGold. She says of the tape, "This is the most pure and sacred work that I have ever put out into the world. I've carried it within me for a very long time until I found a way to translate it into these songs. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it."
