PurpleDrums is a free sample pack that recreates Prince's signature drum sound
Austin-based sample specialists SympleSound have created a set of free drum samples in honour of Prince.
Paying tribute to The Purple One, SympleSound has created PurpleDrums, a custom set of samples for Ableton Live that emulate the sounds of Prince's Linn LM-1 drum machine (hear that in action).
The free pack from SympleSound features 16 samples and effects that look to recreate the iconic Minneapolis Sound, a fusion of genres pioneered by Prince in the '70s/'80s.
The features include: "Custom Drum Rack with integrated effects, eight Macros tailored to the 'Minneapolis Sound', 10 royalty-free original MIDI drum loops, 16 Linn LM-1 and LinnDrum samples, interactive manual explaining Prince’s approach to drum production, [compatibility] with Live 9.5 and higher, and full push compatibility."
