Poppy debuts new song "EAT" during Grammys performance
During yesterday's (14 March) Grammys 2021 premiere ceremony, Poppy chose to debut her heavy new song "EAT".
Poppy hasn't released new music since her A Very Poppy Christmas EP landed in December last year, but yesterday (14 March) Poppy decided to use her first performance at the 2021 Grammys to debut a new song called "EAT".
The new song is a heavy number, and saw Poppy shouting and screaming through the song's verses before dialling back for a more anthemic chorus.
Poppy was nominated for Best Metal Performance for "BLOODMONEY" at last night's Grammys.
Back in December Poppy spoke about her new album, revealing that she was "doing the last touches on it now". She said, "I Disagree was written over the span of about a year. It was done in the studio: live guitar and vocals, but everything else in the box. This whole experience and approach was completely new, and the producer is someone I really respect and have wanted to work with for a number of years. I can talk about that at a different point. But I was able to get my band together and learn the songs I wrote in a very confined space and time, about things that are very close to me. We tracked it all live in a room. It has a completely different sonic vibe. We’re doing the last touches on it now."
She added, "There’s no mention of quarantine or lockdown or any of those things in the songs. I think we all know where we’ve all been for the last nine months. I don’t need to beat people over the head about that - we all know what happened. [laughs] The songs are just very personal to me - they’re about a span of two years."
