Poppy Ajudha returns with new love song "Weakness"
Poppy Ajudha has returned with her first release of 2021 "Weakness", which she describes as a love song "about feeling out of control and at the mercy of someone else".
"Weakness" follows Ajudha's September 2020 outing "Black Joy. Black Peace. Black Justice.", and is accompanied by a self-directed video.
Ajudha says of the track and visual, ""Weakness" is a song about love. About feeling out of control and at the mercy of someone else because of how crazy they make you feel, but also feeling bittersweet about it, because you’re a bad b*tch and you don’t have time for that ish. Self-directing was really fun. I’m a control freak so it was great to get stuck into all the facets of making a music video. Choosing the team, the makeup looks, directing the styling ideas, writing the narrative, working out how to build the set. It definitely felt like a challenge to direct, star-in and perform choreographed moves for the first time but I love to push myself and am really glad I did."
As well as releasing her own singles "Black Joy. Black Peace. Black Justice." and "Strong Womxn" last year, Ajudha collaborated Mahalia on "Low Ride", featured on Moses Boyd's "Shades of You", and released a cover of Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man".
