POP Montreal get Giorgio Moroder, Built to Spill and more for 2015
Hot on the heals of unveiling POP Shots Episode 3 and their Liverpool Sound City showcase, today POP Montreal have revealed the first set of names for the 14th edition of the festival which runs September 16-20. POP’s painstakingly curated lineups are predictably unpredictable, and this years iteration is no different.
Giorgio Moroder will no doubt have people dancing in the aisles as the godfather of synth-disco turns St-Jean-Baptiste church into his dance floor. Elsewhere Godflesh, Babes in Toyland, R&B legend Barbara Lynn, dancehall queen Macka Diamond, Built to Spill, Stars of the Lid and Cannibal Ox help fill out a line up that is truly all over the musical map already, with some 400 artists still to be announced.
The festival will also provide a showcase for local acts, with Coeur de Pirate, Ought, Jerusalem in My Heart and Will Butler amongst this announcements standouts.
Continuing the tradition of unique events and collaborations will be “Pathway to Paris”, a concert to raise money and awareness about climate change in association with 350.org. The show will feature Thurston Moore, poet Anne Waldman and Rebbecca Foon of Saltland and Esmerine amongst others
