Pop Montreal announce full line up
In just two weeks the streets, rooftops, warehouses and basketball courts of Montreal will be alive with the sounds of the 13th edition of Pop Montreal.
Mixing established acts with emerging talent in multiple genres has always been the name of the game for Pop, and this year is no exception, as a quick browse through the newly unveiled line-up goes to show: Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry performs the Canadian Premiere of Music for Heart and Breath alongside Esmerine, while his bandmate Sarah Neufeld plays at a special rooftop show.
Elsewhere the line up includes Stars giving a very special intimate performance from the tiny Breakglass Studios, a reformation for cult figures The Unicorns, and DJ Cheeba, DJ Food and DJ Moneyshot recreating the Beastie Boy’s classic Paul’s Boutique in a special 3 way mix. Throw in shows from the likes of Ronnie Spector, Schoolboy Q, Susan Vega, Panda Bear, Ty Segall and some of the best new and emerging Canadian talent and it is clear the festival is going from strength to strength. t isn’t just about the music either- after a year out the Pop Vs Jock Charity basketball game returns as Win and Will Butler of Arcade Fire will be joined by Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, under the watchful eye of former San Antonio Spur Matt Bonner. Meanwhile at the conference Steve Albini will be presenting two workshops: a recording workshop alongside Howard Billerman and a cookery workshop at Montreal’s Food LAB.
