Police investigating Tyler the Creator after on-stage tirade against Australian woman
Sydney police are said to be looking into reports of misogynistic comments made by Odd Future rapper Tyler the Creator at a show last night (6 June).
The hip-hop star appears to have verbally abused Talitha Stone, a political activist and member of feminist group Collective Shout, who had been protesting the musician’s tour of the country.
Stone had previously tweeted that she was stage a protest against the rap collective, saying they “need educating on misogyny”. Tyler, however, retweeted this message to his fans, who hurled abuse at the user. The 24 year old later attended Tyler’s concert that evening, where he dedicated a song to Stone and went on an expletive-heavy tirade against her.
“My heart was absolutely pounding as I heard him start to mention me,” Stone told Guardian Australia. “I was petrified. I was standing among the crowd of people who were chanting along with threats towards me.”
You can watch a video Stone recorded at the show over at The Guardian website. The New South Wales police have confirmed they are investigating the matter.
