Play End of the Road competition winners Peach Pyramid didn't know they had even entered
Peach Pyramid, one of the winners of this year's Play End of the Road, didn't realise they has even entered the competition.
Before taking to the Piano Stage at End Of The Road today (30 August), Peach Pyramid, who kicked off the festival yesterday, spoke to Best Fit about the competition that brought them to Larmer Tree Gardens, "To be honest, I didn’t even know - I was applying through Music BC in Canada, and so I thought it was just a regular application to a festival, and when they emailed us to say we had won a competition I had no idea that we had even entered one! So that was cool... it was kind of a surprise, but it was a pleasant surprise!"
Vocalist Jen Severtson said of their set yesterday, "It was so fun, I thought it went really well. It was actually not at all what I was expecting, we were doing our soundcheck and there were like 15 people milling about, and then when we came out again there was like 1000 people, so that was kind of a shock but also really nice."
Severtson added, "It seemed like everyone was really buzzing. We have camping music festivals like this back home, and I know that we make a big weekend out of it, so I think it was a good way to kick off the night, and the weekend."
Speaking on upcoming EP Bright Blue, she added, "We’re releasing a new EP on 20 September. That project’s been more of a collective work with the band, so we’ve all participated in the writing and composition of all the songs, which feels like more of a cohesive thing for us."
