Plastic People the latest in a long line of London venues due to shut its doors
Plastic People is set to be the first venue casualty of 2015. 2014 saw the closures of LDN institutions like Buffalo Bar, 12 Bar Club and Madame Jojo's, with Fabric saved at the thirteenth hour from having its license revoked, and Liverpool's Kazimier on shaky ground.
The Shoreditch haunt will have its final night tomorrow (3 January) in the form of an invite-only party.
FACT Magazine reported that the venue will shut its doors: "Plastic People have confirmed to FACT that the club will not open beyond this week, saying that “the time felt right to move on”. The last night in the club will be for ‘friends and family’ and billed as The Last Dance. It takes place on Saturday January 3, with Floating Points, Benny Blanco, Abdul Forsyth and more playing."
They also add that the venue has moved locations before, and has been "looking into new venues for some time".
Plastic People has seen James Blake's 1-800 Dinosaur, PC Music/A.G. Cook and Four Tet grace its decks in recent times, and is often hailed as the breeding ground of dubstep.
