PJ Harvey turned down chance to front Nirvana
Last week saw Nirvana inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, performing live at the ceremony with four female vocalists. Now, it’s been revealed that there could have been a fifth: one PJ Harvey.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Dave Grohl said that Harvey had been the second to be invited, just after Joan Jett and shortly before Kim Gordon, Lorde and St. Vincent were given a call.
“Kurt loved PJ Harvey,” Grohl told the publication. “We had always imagined playing our song ‘Milk It’ from In Utero with her. It’s a twisted song, almost like something that could have been on her record Rid of Me, which was also produced by Steve Albini. It just seemed to pair up so well.”
Sadly though, Harvey couldn’t make the date. You can, however, recap on some of the night’s collaborations here.
