Pixey unveils In A Sunshine State documentary
Pixey has released her new In A Sunshine State documentary, which shows the making of her Sunshine State EP and live shows.
Sunshine State was released in October, and followed her March EP Free To Live in Colour. Today (16 December), the Liverpool singer/songwriter has followed up her latest EP with a documentary titled In A Sunshine State.
The documentary, filmed by frequent collaborator Marieke Macklon, features footage from some of Pixey's live shows, as well as showing the process behind her latest EP.
Pixey explains, "The making of In A Sunshine State was such a new experience for me. Directed & produced by Marieke Macklon, it was an absolute joy to work with another female creative on the project. I think it’s so important to show the process as a solo female artist & producer, so I hope the doc inspires other women in music or who are wanting to get into the arts."
Macklon adds, "As we’re both heavily influenced by 60s/70s music documentaries, the aesthetic and style of editing was an obvious and easy decision. We wanted to keep it as simple and organic as possible for us both, and with it just being myself and a couple of cameras with no big production or fancy gear, the filming felt very natural and comfortable. I’m incredibly proud of Lizzie and myself for creating this project, and to have captured an important moment in Lizzie’s musical journey as Pixey."
