PinkPantheress announced as BBC Sound of 2022 winner
This morning (6 January) PinkPantheress has been announced as the BBC Sound of 2022 winner, following Wet Leg, Mimi Webb, Lola Young and Central Cee.
The 20-year-old singer/songwriter, producer and TikTok star only started releasing music last year, with garage banger "Just For Me" going viral, and was later covered by Coldplay and sampled by Central Cee.
Back in October last year PinkPantheress released her debut mixtape to hell with it, and despite only having a 19-minute running time, the debut project topped many end-of-year lists.
PinkPantheress said of her win, "I am so happy to be chosen for the bbc sound of 2022, to be put up against such amazing musicians has been an honour and i just hope that i fulfill the people’s expectations of me this year."
