Photographer Pooneh Ghana launches charity fundraiser with tees from IDLES, The Big Moon and more
Pooneh Ghana has announced a new charity fundraiser which features her photography work with designs on t-shirts from bands including IDLES, The Big Moon, and more.
The Pooneh Ghana & Friends fundraiser has been set up by Ghana and her agent Meesh Bryant, and they've launched a collection of exclusive t-shirts designed by Ghana and the artists involved.
Ghana's collection of t-shirts features designs from bands including IDLES, The Big Moon, Courtney Barnett, DIIV, Glass Animals, Twin Peaks, The Growlers, Cage The Elephant, Surfbort, POND, The Aubreys, Sunflower Bean, and more.
When announcing the project on socials earlier this week, Ghana wrote, "As part of this project, I asked every artist involved to revisit some pics we've shot together over the years, then choose a favourite and create their own custom design + shirt around it." She adds that "a majority of proceeds from each shirt" will be donated to "charities picked by the artist."
Ghana says of her decision to create the fundraising project, "Initially, the reason I organised this project was in response to COVID-19, but in light of the murder of George Floyd, yet another innocent black male murdered by a racist institution, and the overwhelming lack of support for POC who experience this type of violence every day, we’ve expanded the scope of this fundraiser to cover a wider range of causes and show our support for groups such as Black Visions Collective, NAACP-LDF, Chicago Bail Bond Fund, Black Lives Matter, and the many other organisations out there right now doing necessary work."
