Phoebe Bridgers says she was "in bed with a migraine" when she found out about Grammy nominations
Phoebe Bridgers has revealed that she found out about her multiple Grammy nominations while she was "in bed with a migraine".
On Tuesday (24 November) the 63rd annual Grammy Awards nominations were unveiled. Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch and Taylor Swift gained the most nominations, and Phoebe Bridgers received four nominations, including Best New Artist, Best Rock Performance for "Kyoto", Best Rock Song with "Kyoto", and Best Alternative Music Album for Punisher.
Yesterday (25 November) the New York Times caught up with Bridgers to discuss her nominations. When asked how she found out, Bridgers replied, "I was in bed with a migraine - these things give me a lot of anxiety. Then I saw all these messages from my mom - she was crying and sent a picture of a bottle of champagne she bought two days ago that she hadn’t wanted me to know about, just in case nothing happened."
Bridgers was also asked about the nominations for Best Rock Performance, which are all female (or female-fronted acts) for the first time in history. Bridgers said she is "honoured to be nominated with those people."
The New York Times also asked Bridgers where she's getting inspiration for songs at the moment, leading her to respond, "I’m doing a new type of therapy and lots of memories are resurfacing, so I don’t need to look for it. I’m processing a lot of [expletive] because time is so stagnant, and I feel like I have songs just building up inside me. I’m like, "How will I write every song about everything?""
