Phoebe Bridgers says she meets with Boygenius bandmates "whenever we can"
Phoebe Bridgers has given an update on her Boygenius project with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, revealing that they don't have any concrete plans for new music but they're "just meeting up whenever we can."
Boygenius released their self-titled debut EP in October 2018, and in a new interview with Billboard, Phoebe Bridgers spoke about what's next for her collaborative project with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus.
"Since that band started, our plans have been like, "Whenever it’s easy and fun"," Bridgers said. "I’m sure we will, but none of us have gotten to tour our own solo [albums], so we’re just meeting up whenever we can. Maybe we’ll try to go on a vacation or something. Maybe the next time we hang out will not be for music."
Bridgers also discussed how she ended up featuring on Taylor Swift's "Nothing New" from last year's Red (Taylor's Version) album, "I got this random text from Aaron Dessner that was really weirdly worded for him. And I was like, "What the fuck is this?" And as I was reading it, I [realised], "Oh, my God, it’s from Taylor Swift." We started texting about all kinds of stuff. It was just a total high. It felt like when you meet someone at a party and you’re in the corner all night being like, “Me too!” I’m excited for when we hang out for the first time. We’ve only been very [COVID-19], online friends."
She also spoke about her SNL guitar smash and the reactions on Twitter, "It’s pathetic and funny. No part of me thought it would piss anybody off. I literally went to sleep and woke up and was like, "What the fuck?" It’s just so stupid. I’ve said this before, but at least the right people hate me. At least it’s not like I stepped on something that I didn’t mean to. I was just like, "Oh, good.""
