Phoebe Bridgers says Danelectro wished her luck with smashing guitar on Saturday Night Live
Over the weekend Phoebe Bridgers made her epic Saturday Night Live debut and smashed her guitar, and has since revealed that Danelectro "wished me luck" with trying to break the instrument.
Bridgers performed two tracks from her Grammy nominated second album Punisher during her Saturday Night Live debut over the weekend (6 February), and proceeded to try and smash up her Danelectro guitar, which sent sparks flying, at the end of "I Know The End".
Following her performance, some angry Twitter users criticised Bridgers' decision to try and destroy her guitar, leading Bridgers' fans, friends and collaborators to defend the singer/songwriter. Bridgers also shrugged off the criticism herself, by reposting fan responses to the criticism.
I am so disappointed in Phoebe. There are millions of hungry kids out there who would have loved to eat that guitar. And now no one can eat it. I can’t stop crying. https://t.co/x3qBzAP8qV

Jason Isbell was among those who backed Bridgers' choice. Isbell wrote on Twitter, "That was like an 85 dollar guitar she smashed come on guys." Bridgers revealed in her reply that the act was planned, "I told Danelectro I was going to do it and they wished me luck and told me they’re hard to break."
