Phoebe Bridgers has shared an updated version of "7 O'Clock News / Silent Night"
Phoebe Bridgers has unveiled an updated cover of "7 O'Clock News / Silent Night" with Fiona Apple and The National's Matt Berninger.
The trio have united to update Simon & Garfunkel's version of "Silent Night". Matt Berninger takes on the role of the newsreader on the track, reciting bulletins about Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry, murders, and more.
Profits made from the track will be donated to Planned Parenthood.
According to Pitchfork, Bridgers said in a statement, "Happy Holidays to everyone whose family has been literally or figuratively torn apart by Donald Trump. And to my racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, hypocritical family members, fuck you. Thanks Fiona, Matt, Simon, and Garfunkel."
"7 O'Clock News / Silent Night" is released as Bridgers' Christmas song contribution of 2019. Last year she covered McCarthy Trenching’s "Christmas Song" with Jackson Browne.
Berninger teamed up with Bridgers back in October on "Walking On A String".
