Peter Gabriel's first new album in 20 years could be arriving in 2022
According to Peter Gabriel's drummer Manu Katché, the band are finishing work on Gabriel's first new album in 20 years, and are planning to tour it in 2023.
After Peter Gabriel told NME at the Ivor Novello Awards last month that he's "hoping to have something out by the end of the year," Gabriel's drummer Manu Katché has revealed that they're "finishing our new album", and plan to take it on tour in spring 2023, meaning it could be arriving later this year.
Katché told L’Illustré, "A world tour is planned for 2023 with Peter Gabriel, starting in May in Europe. We're finishing our new album, then we'll go for a walk on the planet. It's super exciting!"
Gabriel hasn't released an album of new material since 2002's Up, although he did release the cover album Scratch My Back in 2010, and an album of orchestral reworks titled New Blood in 2011.
In 2013, some of the artists that he covered on Scratch My Back returned the favour on a compilation titled And I'll Scratch Yours.
