Peter Broderick announces new album as Allred & Broderick, listen to first track "The Ways"
Peter Broderick, one of the most restless and productive musicians around, has announced a new project with his musical partner David Allred. It's cleverly titled Allred & Broderick.
The duo will release their album Find the Ways on 7 April, and the first track to be taken from it is "The Ways". Made with just voices, violin and upright bass, the album promises to be a sparse - yet complex - affair.
Broderick says of the collaboration “I sensed a truly unique character in David’s own music that is wonderfully heartfelt and sincere. With this recording David and I set out to make something raw which is an honest document of what we are capable of doing together at once, with just two acoustic instruments and our voices. The entire album was recorded live, with no overdubs and no edits. Just two guys playing together in a room. I have always dreamed of doing a project in which I only use my violin and my voice and David just plays upright bass and sings. It truly is a fifty-fifty collaboration.”
The video, which you can watch above, is directed by Robert Raths and features cameos from a host of familiar faces including Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds and actor Cillian Murphy.
