British fashion designer Paul Smith has partnered with revolutionary Nottingham record store and social enterprise The Music Exchange for a two day event that sees records and fashion come together.

The label will be bringing crates of vinyl to Smith’s Covent Garden store on Floral Street today and tomorrow (21-22 June) for sale on a pop-up stall.

“The Music Exchange is one of my favourite record stores,” explained Smith. “I’ve always been a fan of their work and this is a tremendous opportunity to do something together.” The designer is one of Nottingham’s most famous sons, born and bred in the city.

More than just a record store, The Music Exchange is dedicated to supporting the local community as well as Nottingham’s music scene. Residents from the Framework homeless charity are given the opportunity to gain independence and re-build social networks by volunteering in the shop.

An exclusive collaborative t-shirt (above) has been designed to mark the occasion and will also be available to buy for the duration of the event. Anyone making purchases from the pop-up will be entered into a draw to win tickets for festivals including Green Man, Latitude and Bestival.

Brian ‘Joey’ Mutton, manager of the Nottingham store and DJ for the event commented, “We’re very honoured that Paul Smith continues to support us and has provided us with some great opportunities.”

The event and collaborative T-shirt are the first in what’s planned to be an ongoing collaboration between the designer and record store.
