Paul Heaton celebrates 60th birthday by putting money behind bars at 60 pubs
Paul Heaton is celebrating his 60th birthday today (9 May) by putting some money behind the bar at 60 pubs across the UK and Ireland, which is replacing his bicycle tour that got put on hold due to "recording delays caused by the pandemic".
In a statement shared on Twitter over the weekend, The Beautiful South frontman revealed that he had "intended to do another bicycle tour, visiting & performing at 60 pubs across the UK & Ireland," which was shelved due to "recording delays caused by the pandemic."
Instead, Heaton has put "a given amounnt of money behind the bar of each" pub, and has encouraged "regulars and yourselves" to "enjoy a birthday drink on me."
"The hope is to bring people together on the day, whilst recognising that many folk who bought my records or showed me support over the years, could do with a wee party, as we come out of Covid and hit potential financial struggles," Heaton added. Check out the full list of participating pubs below.
Here’s a list of all 60 pubs taking part in Paul’s birthday tomorrow (Monday). Thanks to all the pubs and to everyone who visits them. It would be great to see photos of you all enjoying your free drinks and celebrations at each pub throughout the day! https://t.co/QNONRGr8Tp pic.twitter.com/xPzE5W4xiN
