Parquet Courts debut new single "Watching Strangers Smile" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show
Yesterday (11 January) Parquet Courts followed up their Sympathy for Life album with a new single titled "Watching Strangers Smile", which was debuted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"Watching Strangers Smile" is the group's first new outing of 2022, following their 2021 album Sympathy for Life, and was debuted during Parquet Courts' performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday (11 January).
The song was recorded during the band's Sympathy for Life sessions with Rodaidh McDonald, and has since been released on streaming services.
Frontman A. Savage said of the song, "Interestingly enough, this song is the b-side to the "Black Widow Spider" single, which was released only in Japan via Big Love Records. The music was recorded during the sessions for Sympathy For Life, but it was left unfinished. I recorded the vocals on my own to sort of keep from going stir crazy that first lockdown summer. Apologies to my neighbors for the long afternoon spent screaming these vocals in my bedroom."
