Pantha Du Prince announces new experimental project The Conference of Trees
Hendrik Weber, aka Pantha Du Prince, has announced a new project that explores the communication of trees, and translates them into music with a live ensemble.
The German composer has been experimenting with sounds and instruments that he partially made by hand, to determine different characteristics of various woods.
With this research and knowledge he aims to translate and communicate the sounds of trees backed by a percussion ensemble.
Speaking briefly about the upcoming project, Weber explained, "With this project we want to give a new meaning to the forest and the trees in our immediate surroundings and emphasize its value and intelligence - without forests we would not exist as humans on this planet"
Håkon Stene and Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg, who already participated in his last ensemble project The Bell Laboratory. Manuel Chittka (Messer) and jazz musician Friedrich Paravicinialso also contributed to the arrangements.
Set to be an extravaganza, the live performance is co-produced with the International Summer Festival at Kampnagel in Hamburg, the Barbican in London, the Kammerspiele in Munich, and the Schauspielhaus Bochum.
