Oxford music shop saved from closure after Radiohead offer support
An independent music shop based in Oxford, which counts members of Radiohead as among its customers, has had an application to turn it into a restaurant denied by the local council.
As BBC News report, Professional Music Technology on the city’s Cowley Road was due to be converted into a cafe and restaurant by Travelodge, who own the site.
The likes of Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood and former Supergrass member Gaz Coombes had voiced their support for the store, with Greenwood quoted as saying: “I love PMT. It is the first place I go to when I need to get anything. It is very down to earth.”
Oxford City Council unanimously rejected proposals in a vote on Tuesday.
