Overcoats collaborate with Lawrence Rothman on new single "Blame It On Me"
Overcoats have teamed up with Lawrence Rothman on new single "Blame It On Me", which is lifted from their Used To Be Scared Of The Dark EP.
After announcing Used To Be Scared Of The Dark with Tennis collaboration "The Hardest Part" last month, the duo have returned with the EP's second single "Blame It On Me", which features Lawrence Rothman.
Overcoats write of the song in the video description, ""Blame It On Me" was written in the era of writing for The Fight, and it's a continuation of those themes. It's about feeling stuck in a relationship or situation that you don't have the strength to leave -- or just really want to make work. There are sounds of kids playing at the background to symbolise the innocence and purity you thought love had, before you realised it was complicated, messy, and sometimes a little dark. Lawrence Rothman's deep voice sounds so amazing on this track and really makes the song feel like a conversation between a couple in a really magical way."
Used To Be Scared Of The Dark will be Overcoats' first collection of songs since last year's second album The Fight, and will feature contributions from Middle Kids and Local Natives' Ryan Hahn across the EP's four tracks.
Hana of Overcoats says of the EP, "All of these songs were made remotely, which was a really wild experience. It required a lot of trust in ourselves and in our collaborators. We have loved all of these artists for so long, we knew that the intersection between their sound and ours would be cool no matter what."
