Oscar Jerome links with Kaidi Akinnibi on new single "Sweet Isolation"
Oscar Jerome has returned with new single "Sweet Isolation", which features saxophone from Kaidi Akinnibi.
"Sweet Isolation" is Jerome's first new material of 2022, following his July reunion with Ben Hauke on "No Need".
The new track, produced by Beni Giles, sees him team up with Kaidi Akinnibi (Tom Misch, Blue Lab Beats), and is accompanied by a video directed by Jerome, Alfie Laurence and Mathias Karl Gontard, which was filmed in Iceland.
"This track and visual is an exploration into the beauty in melancholy," Jerome explains. "The first character you encounter is Jerry, back in an easier time. He is happy but somewhat deluded, a warped idolisation of what was. The second character, Ice Guycicle, reflects the art that grows out of deep emotion and the pain experienced on the path to transformation. He could be a real person searching for answers on an alien planet or he could be a thought walking through the barren landscape of your mind."
He's yet to follow up his 2020 debut album Breathe Deep.
