Omar Souleyman details new album Bahdeni Nami, shares Modeselektor collab "Enssa El Aatab"
Syrian dance-folk legend Omar Souleyman has announced a new record called Bahdeni Nami, and shared the lead single - "Enssa El Aatab" - which you can hear now.
The track features production from Modeselektor, who is one of a number of guests to have collaborated with Souleyman. Gilles Peterson, Four Tet, Legowelt and Black Lips’ Cole Alexander have all either leant production skills, or provided remixes for release around the LP.
Bahdeni Nami is set for release via Monkeytown on 28 July. It was recorded primarily in Istanbul (Turkey), and features his traditionally traditional arrangements, with help from poet/songwriter Ahmad Alsamer, Khaled Youssef, Rizan Said and more. It is the follow up to 2013's Wenu Wenu.
Souleyman currently has only one UK show booked; it will take place at Bristol's Colston Hall venue on 30 May.
